Round 6 – The Soundtrack to My Life

October 9th, 2009

This one has been a bit of a struggle for me as I don’t know enough music and I really don’t think my life is interesting enough to have a soundtrack. It would be like one of those films that I love, but in which nothing really happens, Lost In Translation or Girl With a Pearl Earring-stylee. However, I am not going to cop out, so with a little help from our CD collection, here is the soundtrack to my life.

Opening Credits

I am a bit of a ‘fixer’. If someone has a problem then I like to fix it (I guess that’s why my job was so appropriate). If I can’t fix it, I get a bit stressed so the opening credits to my life would be Coldplay’s Fix You. (Just as an aside, this was AWESOME live.)

Love Scene

Andy and I were friends for a long time before we started going out so I was going to use The Start of Something New from High School Musical as the lyrics are embarrassingly appropriate. However, as I discovered just about when we got together properly, Andy had actually been quite in love with me for a long time. The reciprocity (if that’s the right word) of this feeling kind of happened by accident so the love scene song would have to be Counting Crows’ Accidentally in Love.

Fight Scene

Hm. This is a tricky one because I don’t do fighting. I don’t really even do arguing any more because Andy doesn’t join in. You feel a bit stupid having a one-sided argument. So I’m going to go with Heavyweight Champion of the World by Reverend and the Makers because if I WAS to have a fight, it’d be a big one.

Death Scene

I don’t know how I’m going to die but I’m pretty sure that it’ll be better for me than for the rest of you and as soon as I saw the title of this song while searching for inspiration, I knew this had to be the one. It’s The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine). I can’t think of a better way to go out than to a good bit of classic REM.

Closing Credits

Andy and I walked out to this song at the end of our wedding and it seems somehow fitting to use it here too. Delirious’ My Glorious. Love. It.

Good list sis! (Uh, or sis-in-law, I guess. But that just didn’t have the same ring)
I read the Fight Scene bit to Nats, and she reckons it must be a Hoyland-man thing, ‘cos we’re about the same as you by the sounds of things. Also, if she was to have a fight, it would be a big one too. Monumental, I reckon…

I agree, very good list. Maybe the no fighting thing isn’t just the men. I don’t fight. Although technically I don’t have anyone to fight with, so maybe thats why. I like throwing things at people though. Does that count?

So long as it’s not your patients….

Good list Gloria. I think better than mine – but in my defence mine was written in the middle of the night when I have no brain at all.

Maybe it’s just a Hoyland thing, rather than a Hoyland-man thing. Also, you do throw quite a lot of stuff at me…
Also also, Sian, I hope you’re feeling better, and don’t let Andy fool you – I did all the heavy lifting on Friday; Andy mostly just moved cushions.

Ah, also also also, the ‘you do throw quite a lot of stuff at me’ comment was aimed at my sister.
She does.

I only throw stuff at you because you’re a loser. So really its your fault.

Is it wrong to want to force you to change back to High School Musical just for comedy value?

Think it’s your call for Round 7 Mrs H.

OK, everyone has now been informed on their own blogs but just in case anyone else wants to join is, Round 7 is “If I wasn’t me, I would like to be…”

Have fun!
